I have been in the GIS industry for over 15 years, and have come to know hundreds of other GIS professionals. Therefore, whenever an interesting project comes along, I look to see which team would provide the client with the best qualifications, service, cost, and schedule.

Unlike many consultants, I try to minimize the amount of learning we have to do at the client's expense - a common practice in consulting. Instead, I maintain a list of qualified and reliable individuals, or small firms, who can jump in and get the job done. My role, in that event, is a mix of technical work and project management, making sure that my colleagues and sub-contractors perform to the client's expectations. Since Elroi Consulting's founding, I have worked with ten different sub-contractors around the country and around the world, to bring value and expertise to my clients.
